Courtesy Listing Dogs. These dogs are dogs that we post as a courtesy to people that contact us. We have not seen these dogs and have not done behavior or temperment evaluations on them. For qustions please refer to the contact listed with each dog and not SCRR. Thank you. Some people may still want you to fill out this Online Adoption Application
*If you have a dog posted on our site, you must contact us by the 5th of each month if you want them to stay posted for another month. If we do not hear from you they will be taken down on the 10th. This is the only way we can manage the dogs since we have to call to verify who is adopted and not each month. Few people ever call to let us know when there dogs get adopted and we are an all volunteer rescue and too much time is spent trying to keep the courtesy listings up to date. We are trying to keep this a free and donation based service to the public. Thank you for your understanding.

xx Artie 4- 5 year old Male
Posted 2/2012

Artie is a 4 to 5 year old male Rottie. He came in as a stray and was pretty quickly a favorite among all volunteers because he is "special". He has mastered the Rottie lean and snuggle up for some good pets and scratches. He has some minor neurological impairment that makes him a little wobbly on his feet and a little slow on the draw but it certainly doesn't cramp his style. He loves to hike in the hills for up to 45 minutes and to play rough house with the other Rottie in his foster home. We had hip xrays and a neurological consult. No arthritis was evident. His neurological problems may have started at birth or he may have had a minor stroke. Although the cause is not clear, the neurologist did not think it was progressive. Good with all other dogs and with cats. He is very well behaved at the dog park and has terrific recall off leash. Artie loves his crate and spends most of his time chewing his toys in it at home. He is in an office with his foster mom during the day where he naps and relaxes without fuss. Aside from his minor "special" needs he is pretty perfect. A very easy dog. For more information on Artie please email Amelia Funghi at afunghi2@ci.berkeley.ca.us Community Services Coordinator Berkeley Animal Services or call her at (510)981-6603.

xxStorm 4 Year old male
Posted 9/2011

Storm is a healthy, playful, and loving four year old male dog. He weighs 65 pounds and has been in our care for the past 2 ½ years. When we met him, he was very fearful and anxious. Through a lot of training, love, and patience he has shed much of that to become an energetic playmate, walking buddy, co-adventurer, quiet companion, and a faithful guard dog. Storm thrives on his daily walks but spends most of the day snoozing around the house and likes to keep us company and investigate what we are doing. He is neutered, house trained, crate trained, and very well behaved in the home. He does not beg or jump up on furniture. He would do best in a cat-free home that is quiet but active. If introduced properly, he does well with other dogs. We would love to keep him but we are entering our child-rearing years and Storm is nervous when approached by small children. We are located in Stockton, CA and our email is padgett.ng@gmail.com and our phone number is 209-932-9230. *This is a courtesy listing

xxTara female
Posted 8/2011

Tara is a wonderful dog that I adopted her in hopes of making her into a service dog. Unfortunately she is not good in new situations or around new people. She has completed Basic Training with Cindy Smith and two behavioral sessions with Mandy Kennedy besides the hours I have put into her. She still needs a lot of heavy duty chew toys, jumps on people when she is excited and barks at dogs when they are on a leash. I can't afford her, need to get her out of a one bedroom apartment now that she is not being worked, and need to spend the money on a program service dog. Ultimately if I cannot place her, I am going to return her to the SPCA, which breaks my heart. I have called them an emailed them with no reply. She is a wonderful dog in a stable environment--no kids or cats. She licks me from the face down whenever she has a chance. She is on the bed during the day. If I could just have a dog, I would love her. For more information on Tara Please email Charlotte at swanifer25@sbcglobal.net Tara is located in the Sacramento area. *This is a courtesy listing

Bobo 5 Year old male
Posted 9/2011

I was rescued by this lovely couple one day when I was crossing the busy street to go to Blockbuster. I was just going to see what new K-9 movies they had. So I happened to cross the street right in between these two cars who happen to belong to him and her (my new owners). They pulled their cars immediately and pulled me aside to the curb before I GOT RUN OVER BY ANY CAR. Then they put me in the back of his SUV, and took me to home. They washed me, fed me, and loved me immediately. They made sure all my shots were given, and they had me fixed so I don't make any babies. They absolutely spoiled me.
However, unfortunately due to the Recession, my family had to move. And when they moved, they downsized it and now they have a very small home with a very tiny yard which I hate. So I always look to run away since it does not even have grass. They are scared I am going to get run over by cars. The property does not have a very secured fence so I find a way to get out. I am looking for a new family as they do not have room in their new home. They love me a lot but they have to find a better situation for me now. I am a very mellow dog. I am about 5 or so, I was told. They are not sure as I was rescued. I am a very smart dog that loves to love and to be loved. I would lick you and your face only if you allow me. I love going to walks with you or playing with you. I am a very good dog. I am very dog and kid friendly as my previous family had lots of dogs and a lovely three year old girl.
Please give me a chance and rescue me. I am really a great Rotweiler. You will love me. I live in Novato.

xx Nyla 6 Year old female
Posted 9/2011

Nyla is a beautiful spayed female Rottie who is about 6 years old. She is playful and affectionate and very loyal. She enjoys long walks, hikes, and time outside. When inside, she generally sleeps at your feet or puts her head in your lap. She loves being scratched all over and especially her rump. She is completely housetrained and knows how to sit, stay, and go down. She is a strong dog and can be a lot to handle on the leash. She responds very well to rules and structure and loves being trained. At her basic obedience class the instructor always used her as the model because she responds so well to treats. She is very food motivated.
Nyla does not wake you up early in the morning and generally puts herself to bed around 9:30pm. She spent her early years in a house with small children but she is not aware of her size so we would recommend her not being in a house with small children at this time. She gets along well with other dogs once she knows them but does show some leash aggression. She needs a strong owner who will give her the attention, exercise, and structured play that she deserves.

xxNero 6 Year old Male
Adopted 12/2011
I got Nero from my cousin in Fresno, she has terminal lung cancer and had to go into assisted living last weekend and and can no longer keep him. I have him in Manteca now, but he does not get along with my male lab mix or my cats. Looking for another home for him. Here is a little about him: 6 year old neutered male, current on vaccinations, heart worm neg/maintainence, & miicrochipped. He is a big boy, 130 lbs. he could stand too loose just a little bit (he didn't get much excercise due to his owner's failing health). He's sweet & loving as he can be with people, but not other animals (for sure my large male dog, and cats) - don't know about female dogs.

He is housebroken and has always lived inside. He has good basic training skills - sits, stays, lays down, & walks well on leash. He rides well in the car. He is pretty mello at this age, but still likes to play. Likes to be with someone most of the time as he was her companion dog. He has cronic "dry-eye" & I have been giving him eye drops which he takes very easily. I took him to the vet for check up on Tuesday and he was well behaved, even with a couple of other dogs that came into waiting room - I did not have any trouble restraining him. Nero is located in Manteca for more information about Nero Please contact Carrie @ 209-610-6280 or carries_creations@comcast.net

xxAdopted 8/2011
Boomer 7 year old male

Boomer is a 7 year old rott/hound mix who is an absolute sweetheart.  He originally showed up on our doorstep as a stray and was adopted out after a short stay here. He was returned, however, because he has trouble with his hips and the man who adopted him lived in an upstairs apartment. He just couldn't go up and down the stairs as much as was needed. His adopter was very sad to have to return him. He is a wonderful dog and his hips don't seem to bother him too much here. He's good with other dogs, (as long as they know when to mellow out) cats and is absolutely perfect and gentle around kids.
For more information on boomer please contact Allison Reader at the Butte Humane Society 530.343.7917 Ext.102 http://www.buttehumane.org *This is a courtesy listing

Bigfoot 1 year old male

Bigfoot is a total goof ball, he is a Rottie mix. He is only about a year and a half and LOVES to play with other dogs. He's currently living with two lab/pit puppies and the day we put those two with him in his kennel he was just about the happiest dog I've ever seen! He was adopted out and returned because his new family found out they were having a baby and thought Bigfoot would be too much for them to handle. He's still young but super trainable. He loves food and toys. For more information on Bigfoot please conatact Allison Reader at Butte Humane Society buttehumane.org
