Rainbow Bridge, Dedicated to our rotties that we have loved and lost but are forever in our hearts.

A beautiful way to honor the memory of a much loved and missed companion. Here at Second Chance Rottweiler Rescue, we strive to give our dogs the best chance at a happy forever home. You can help us through donation, adoption or sponsoring. Please help us help them.
The Lesson At The Rainbow Bridge
Unlike most days at the Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray. All the recent arrivals at the Bridge did not know what to think, as they had never seen such a day. But the animals who had been waiting longer for their beloved people to accompany them across the Bridge knew what was happening, and they began to gather at the pathway leading to the Bridge.

Soon an elderly dog came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. He approached slowly, and though he showed no sign of injury or illness, he was in great emotional pain. Unlike the animals gathered along the pathway, he had not been restored to youth and vigor upon arriving at the Bridge. He felt out of place, and wanted only to cross over and find happiness.

But as he approached the Bridge, his way was barred by an angel, who apologized and explained that the tired and broken-spirited old dog could not cross over. Only those animals accompanied by their people were allowed to cross the Bridge. Having nobody, and with nowhere else to turn, the dog trudged into the field in front of the Bridge. There he found others like himself, elderly or infirm, sad and discouraged.

Unlike the other animals waiting to cross the Bridge, these animals were not running or playing. They simply were lying in the grass, staring forlornly at the pathway across the Rainbow Bridge. The old dog took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.... yet not knowing for what he was waiting for.

One of the newer dogs at the Bridge asked a cat who had been there longer to explain what was happening. The cat replied, "Those poor animals were abandoned, turned away, or left at rescue places, but never found a home on earth. They all passed on with only the love of a rescuer to comfort them. Because they had no people to love them, they have nobody to escort them across the Rainbow Bridge."

The dog asked the cat, "So what will happen to those animals?" Before the cat could answer, the clouds began to part and the cold turned to bright sunshine. The cat replied, "Watch, and you will see."

In the distance was a single person, and as he approached the Bridge the old, infirm and sad animals in the field were bathed in a golden light. They were at once made young and healthy, and stood to see what their fate would be. The animals who had previously gathered at the pathway bowed their heads as the person approached. At each bowed head, the person offered a scratch or hug.

One by one, the now youthful and healthy animals from the field fell into line behind the person. Together, they walked across the Rainbow Bridge to a future of happiness and unquestioned love. The dog asked the cat, "What just happened?"

The cat responded, "That was a rescuer. The animals gathered along the pathway bowing in respect were those who had found their forever homes because of rescuers. They will cross over when their people arrive at the Bridge. The arrival here of a rescuer is a great and solemn event, and as a tribute they are permitted to perform one final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort all those poor animals they couldn't place on earth across the Rainbow Bridge."

The dog thought for a moment, then said, "I like rescuers." The cat smiled and replied, "So does heaven, my friend. So does heaven."

Spencer Angel

Even though she was with us for a such short time she will be sadly missed as she truly was an angel.

Spencer Katie - my companion

Katie was euthanized on Sept 2, 2009 due to a spinal tumor that left her paralyzed. We really do not even know how old she was, we think that she was about 12-13 years old. She was pulled by us from the animal shelter and was never adopted because of her age. She lived with me and my dogs until her death. She was my constant companion and she loved to go for rides. She was one tough little dog and I will miss her.

BubblesBubbles

Bubbles was euthanized 1n Sept 2011 due to milignant melanoma. Bubbles was 5 years old, far too young to die of cancer. She was a beautiful, sweet and happy girl that deserved so much better than the hand she was dealt. She will be missed.

SpencerBo

Bo was a wonderful, caring companion and loyal friend that will be greatly missed. We rescued Bo when he was four years old and had the privilege of becoming his forever family for four years, which wasn't nearly long enough. Gennifer and Dustin De Paoli

SpencerTilly

Tilly was more than I could have hoped for in a dog. I am so glad that I was given a chance to share her life. She will be forever missed.

Spencer Trude - we lost one of our own

Trude was found by some firemen near Elk grove, dying in a field. She had probably been thrown from a car. She had massive road rash and had several operations to clean up her wounds. She had such a massive infection that we did not think that she would survive, She was so weak when we got her she could not stand. I was very attached to her because of all we went through together and she had a wonderful home for the remainder of her life. The light and the joy left our hearts when we lost you. Our Nobel, Brave, Loyal Companion and Absolute Joy. We miss you every day. Valerie & Bob

Sedona Sedona

Sedona was rescued from a man who was dying from cancer, and he could no longer care for her. She came to us with torn curuciate ligaments in both knees which we had repaired. When she had recovered, nobody was interested in adopting her so she lived with me at SCRR. We later found out that she had lymphoma. Today Aug 28, 2009 she was euthanized to end her suffering. She was only about 7 years old. I will miss her bright spirit, and her princess like attitude.

MooseMoose

We never knew how old Moose was. When he came from animal control they said he was about 8. Moose lived with me for 5 years and passed away due to kidney failure at about the age of 13. He was one of the sweetest Rotties that I have ever had at SCRR. He got along with all other dogs and just loved people. He was our special dog who went to all of our functions as an ambassador for our breed. When we first got him, he had been in some kind of an accident and his eye was badly damaged and we had it removed, The following year we found out that he has cancer in one of his toes and we had his toe removed, He lived 4 years longer. Due to his age, he never found a home, so I was lucky enough to become his foster parent for 5 years. He is sadly missed each and every day.

Chianti Chianti

Chianti was a sweet and kind dog and we all feel so blessed that she was a part of our family the past 4 years,we adopted her from SCRR . Chianti will always be a special part of our family story and we will remember her as our little daughter Sydney's first dog. We miss her terribly already. Donna, William, Andrew, Louisa and Sydney Sneeringer

ShellyShelly

Shelly loved motorcycles, cats, dogs and life.
She knew she was loved.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten, by Pat.

MinaMina 8/11/08

Our little princess Mina decided that it was time for her to leave us to join her brothers Max, Sammy, Panzer, Alex & Tuco. She fought the bone cancer like a little trooper, but it spread to her vital organs & she let us know it was her time to cross the rainbow bridge today. She would have been 11 years old in november. R.I.P. dear Mina, we will both miss you very much. The Burns family.

MinaTuco

Tuco was adopted from us in February 2008 and he passed away the first of August the due to kidney failure. According to Tim and Diane his adopter, he was the sweetest and friendliest Rottweiler that
they had ever met.

R.I.P. Tuco.

Reb Reb 5-2008

We had to have Reb euthanized. He was having a lot of difficulty breathing. his abdomen was full of fluid and it was pushing on his diaphragm so he could hardly breath. he could no longer get up and would have probably died in the next day or so . He also had a large mass in his abdomen and Nancy said it was probably cancer. She came to the house and euthanized him so he would not be stressed. If he would have lived until Nov., he would have been 16 years old.

Spencer Lucy 2008

Lucy will be missed all of us here at SCRR.

Elwood Elwood 2008

Elwood,1998-2008 he is sadly missed by the Davis Family

Spencer Lyka 2007

In loving memory of Lyka the Wood family.

Spencer Midori 7/2007

Midori is the sweetest soul you can imagine. She had a tough fight for her life and ultimately lost. She was abandoned to starve with an imbedded color; recovered, came down with cancer; beat that, developed a bad blood disease; beat that, then developed Pneumonia from the treatment. She lost her fight but not after haveing two years of love and care and being treated like she deserved to be treated. We will miss her kind sweet sprit.

Spencer Violet 10/2007

We saved Violet 4 years ago. Violet was rescued from a shelter where she would have been euthanized. At the time of her SCRR Inc. rescue we found she had been suffering from pyometria and would have died with a day or two. She also suffered from autoimmune disease. Violet has had a hard life but we kept her here at our rescue and gave her a great last four years of her life. She was developed bone cancer and finally lost her fight on life. She will be missed.

Spencer Buoy 7/2007

We are very sad to hear about the passing or our former rescue Buoy. Buoy was severely injured by someone hitting him in the head, rupturing his eyes so that they had to be removed. He was just left to die on the streets in Richmond. We took him in and got him the necessary surgery so that he could live pain free.Nobody wanted to adopt him because he was blind, until Marta and Jack came along. They cared for and loved him for 5 wonderful years until old age finally caught up with him. We wish to thank Marta and Jack for giving Buoy a wonderful life.

Victor Victor 12/06

Victor was a big boy with a big heart. We were fortunate to find him, and hold dear the time we spent with him----the Hewett family

Cali

Calie

Cali was truly a gentle soul who only wanted a home with love. She wanted lots of hugs (the tighter the better), walks next to Big Chico Creek, cats who would pay her any attention, and food. We love how Cali would spin around when she played and how she shook her own feet off the ground when she did the dog shake. Cali truly was our princess and she is sadly missed. The Hudson family

Spencer Sammy 2006

In memory of Sammy, the most gentle and beautiful of dogs

Kelly Kelly 1992-2006

A kind and gentle soul, she was always ready with
a smile and friendly wag ofher tail. Friend to Rotties Caitlin and Hilde.

Gracie Gracie 8/15/06

Gracie came to us in Dec 04, at that time she was probably around 12 years old. Thrown away on the side of the road with her bed and water dish, Gracie was never adopted and lived here at our rescue until Aug 15 06, Gone but not forgotten.

Spencer Princes 7/06

"She was my best friend and my heart" greatly missed by the Strickland family

Spencer Spencer 2/06

Spencer had so many great qualities, he was so full of personality and life. He liked to play on the jungle gym at the neighborhood park.  He would climb the stairs, run across the wobbly bridge and just fly down the slide.  He'd land in the sand at the bottom of the slide with such excitement and adrenaline, you'd have to prepare yourself for it.

Spencer did not deal with dogs that were anything other than friendly and playful - he would simply walk away from unfriendly dogs.  Spencer changed the opinions of so many people who thought poorly of Rottweiler’s.  He stole everyone's heart, I imagine because it just didn't occur to Spencer that someone might not want to be his friend.

Chewy & Asia Chewy 2005 & Asia 5/06

These are the two happiest pals you and Dawn brought into my life. They brought us happiness and laughter that only great memories can capture. I wanted to say thanks for blessing Dawn and I with such awesome companions! We lost Chewy last year and Asia a week ago, but even though our hearts are filled with sadness, we know they are both frolicking in a happier place with their bones.

tonyTony 9/97 - 1/05

Tony liked to bury his face in your lap and get head massages. He loved to lean on you, lay on top of you, and cuddle with you. He was an excellent swimmer and a always a good eater. A very handsome Rottweiler, he was always good company. Tony is survived by his girlfriend Bella.
We will miss him

JordonJordon 11/04

Dear Elaine,
I just wanted to let you and our sponsor family know that we had Jordan put to sleep today. We would like to say thank you for everything you and our sponsor family has done for us. But mostly for giving us a second chance and continue to have Jordan with us even when we we're financially unable to do so. Thank you for allowing our children the opportunity to love and feel the love from a companion & pet as wonderful as Jordan. Our childrens' lives are better for sharing this special bond with Jordan. Words cannot express our appreciation. We will forever remember all of your generosity and kindness. The Miller Family

targheeTARGHEE
(our "Shadow Chaser")

The JORDAN FUND had been funded by Targhee's loving family. Jordan, the Rottweiler, with his loving family. Thanks to the generosity of TARGHEE's FAMILY, Jordan is being treated for his medical condition and able to stay with his family.

SCRR Inc. Note: Jordan's family had him with them for many more months thanks to the financial assistance of Targhee's Family. It was the wish of Targhee's family that Jordan be able to stay with his family.. and they generously made that happen!

Cayla our Sunshine Girl 1998-2006

jazzJazz 2/94 - 8/04

Jazz loved unconditionally. I have never loved an animal so much. She was always there to love, kiss and play. Or just to cuddle and watch TV. We got Jazz when I was pregnant and she grew up with our family, and was truly part of our family. When we lost her to cancer at 10 it was so hard. Jazz enriched our lives. She taught people that Rotts can truly be gentle. I always joked that if we were robbed as long as they pet her she would hold the door open for them. We love you Jazz and we will miss our water dog. The Brandenburg family.

saidkSaidik

Saidik was the most courageous, devoted and tender hearted creature that I have ever known. Eight years was too short a time as I still had so much left to learn from her. She touched many peoples' lives with both her enthusiasm and her quiet resolve. Her special radiance will always be with me and those who loved her. The Ross Family.

Braveheart Brave Heart 10/19/04

With great sadness, the volunteers of SCRR Inc. mourn the passing of Braveheart. At least during his last months of life he learned what love, caring and companionship was all about. Even the heroic care by his wonderful foster family, the Lewis family, could not reclaim what years of abuse had brought about.

May Braveheart rest in peace at the rainbow bridge and may the people at the towing yard in Sacramento who abused him for so many years, receive their just rewards. We wish to thank the Lewis family for all the care, and love that they gave Braveheart during the time that he spent at their home. Elaine

Braveheart Jordan 11/94- 8/05

Jordan was a gentle giant our friend and companion for eleven years. At 120 pounds he forgot he wasn't a puppy and preferred to be a lap dog whenever he got the chance. He loved his family and was always excited to go on adventures whether it was a walk to the mailbox or a ride to vacation. He was an ambassador to his breed! We miss him greatly and he will always be a part of our family memories. ~ Donna, William, Andrew and Louisa
